DEVELOPMENT OF A NOVEL LARGE-SCALE STATIC MIXER BY USING SIMCENTER FLOEEFD AND LASER BASED MEASUREMENT

APEX Group’s R&D Department would like to thank Mentor, a Siemens Business, for the invitation to present our approach in using Flow Simulation Software FloEFD at the Siemens Sim Center conference 2018.

Following our effective method in combination of experimental and computational fluid dynamics for the development of new products, we were invited to the Siemens Sim Center conference 2018, which took place in Prague from 3.12.2018 to 5.12.2018, to present our latest developments in terms of static mixing.

APEX Group’s R&D Engineer, Tomas Daubner, presented our latest developments for global mixing, the large scale static mixing. We demonstrate how we generate a digital twin within a CFD environment based on experimental results and how the digital twin helps to improve the concept of the large-scale static mixer in a very cost- and time- effective manner. The digital twin allows the precise adaption of geometrical features of the large-scale static mixer to fulfil customer’s specification, such as mixing length, coefficient of variance or pressure drop.
